How It Works
At Preble Arts, painting your own pottery is easy and fun! Start by picking your favorite piece from our shelves. Our staff will help you choose your glaze colors and answer any questions. Then, sit back and enjoy painting at your table. We'll hand the cleanup when you're done. Once your piece is fired, it will be ready for you to pick up in about 2-3 weeks.
PYOP Studio Hours
Our Paint-Your-Own-Pottery (PYOP) Studio hours are set to ensure every guest has the time and space to enjoy their creative experience. Because pottery painting requires careful glazing and kiln preparation, our studio closes earlier than our building to allow for clean-up and set-up for after-hours events. These dedicated hours help us maintain a welcoming, organized space where you can relax, create, and leave the rest to us.

Paint-Your-Own-Pottery FAQs
How long does it take?
We suggest allowing at least one hour to choose your piece, select your colors, and begin painting. Depending on the size and detail of your design, painting pottery can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours.
When can I come in?
You're welcome to come in and paint pottery anytime during our Paint-Your-Own-Pottery Studio hours: Wednesday-Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please note that our Paint-Your-Own-Pottery Studio closes earlier than our building hours to allow time for clean-up and preparation for after-hours events.
What is the cost?
The cost includes a studio fee of $5 for kids and $8 for adults, which covers glaze and kiln firing, plus the price of your pottery piece. Pottery pieces range from $8 to $30, so you can choose something that fits your style and budget.
Do you host group visits?
Yes! We love welcoming groups of all kinds, including schools, Girl Scout troops, community organizations, team building trips, and more. To plan your visit, please contact our Executive Director at director@preblearts.org for details and scheduling.
When can I pick up my piece?
Pottery pieces typically take 2-3 weeks to be fired and ready for pickup. We'll contact you as soon as your piece is finished and ready to be collected.
