Preble Arts is seeking an engaging and creative Teaching Artist to lead RISE, our free arts

program for youth ages 12–16.

About RISE

RISE (Respect, Integrity, Spirit, Experience) is a free art program sponsored by the Preble

County Juvenile Court that focuses on self-expression, resilience, and personal growth.

Through creative projects and a supportive community, students have opportunities to explore emotions, build confidence, develop creative skills, and find their voice.

We're looking for an artist or arts educator who enjoys working with teens and can create

hands-on projects that are engaging, accessible, and fun while supporting the larger goals of the RISE program.

The Role

The RISE Teaching Artist will serve as the lead teaching artist for the program, which meets

every Wednesday from 3:00–5:00 p.m., beginning September 30 and continuing through

approximately May 1. The Teaching Artist will plan and lead engaging, hands-on art experiences for youth ages 12–16 across a variety of mediums based on their own skills and interests. Occasional guest artists will be incorporated throughout the year to introduce students to additional mediums, techniques, and creative perspectives.

Responsibilities include:

● Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate art projects for youth ages 12–16.

● Provide clear instruction while encouraging creativity and individual expression.

● Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

● Communicate project ideas and supply needs with Preble Arts staff in advance.

● Help students safely and appropriately use art materials, tools, and studio spaces.

● Collaborate with Preble Arts staff to incorporate occasional guest artists and specialty

• workshops
  Collaborate with Preble Arts staff on occasional special projects, exhibitions, or other RISE activities.

Who We're Looking For

You do not need to be a licensed art teacher to apply.

We're interested in artists, teaching artists, art educators, college art students, retired educators, makers, and other creative individuals who:

• Enjoy working with middle- and high-school-aged youth.
• Are comfortable leading a group and explaining creative processes.
• Are dependable, encouraging, patient, and organized.
• Have experience in one or more artistic mediums.
• Believe young people benefit from having space to experiment, create, and develop their own artistic voice.
• Have reliable transportation to and from Preble Arts.
• Are willing to complete a background check prior to working with RISE participants.

Previous teaching or youth-program experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule

RISE meets Wednesdays from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at: Preble Arts
207 East Main Street
Eaton, Ohio

The 2026–27 program is expected to run from September 30 through approximately May 1. The exact spring end date and any holiday or school-break schedule adjustments will be communicated in advance.

Compensation

$25/hour, approximately 3 paid hours per week, including the two-hour Wednesday RISE session and approximately one hour of lesson planning and preparation.

Additional preparation time may be approved in advance for special projects.

Program materials and supplies are provided or reimbursed by Preble Arts with prior approval.
