Ceramics Instructor Needed
Are you a fun, outgoing artist ready to work Preble County’s leading art organization? The PCAA is seeking experienced potters and ceramic artists to help guide our growing ceramics program to new heights as we move to a new location and begin our next chapter. The audience is already here, come share your skill and creativity with them!
The Preble County Art Association is seeking qualified, creative, responsible individuals interested in instructing ceramics classes. Classes are ongoing throughout the year and meet at the Visual Art Center of Preble County. Day and evening classes available.
The PCAA has an 8-wheel pottery studio for community art classes. The studio is also equipped with a slab roller, extruder, hand building area, and electric kiln.
Essential Job Functions
Develop class curriculum
Provide art instruction in hand building, wheel throwing, glazing, and other technical aspects of pottery
Ensure safety in the classroom through supervision and by immediately reporting unsafe conditions
Maintain studio cleanliness and organization
Communicate with PCAA staff about supply levels
Work with the Education Manager and Executive Director to develop promotional materials for your class
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in art or at least five years’ experience as a practicing professional artist.
Clay arts background and related teaching experience
Strong wheel skills
Strong communication skills - (this position will include direct interaction with the public)
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work autonomously
