RISE is an initiative to fill Preble County with art and culture, allowing youth in the county to actively participate in the creative process while learning life skills, responsibility, team-work and community development. The program is designed to build their character including a sense of integrity, responsibility, spirit and cultural awareness.
RISE came from the YPA (Youth for Public Art) program that began in 2014 as a program for teen boys through a partnership with the Preble County Juvenile Court. The success of YPA have led to the opportunity to explore more art instruction and learning opportunities that would be able to transition students into a work-study program. The program now serves girls as well.
WAVE WAll at the ASK Playground
The Wave Wall was commissioned by the ASK Playground in 2015 in efforts to enhance the accessible playground with mentally stimulating play. We commissioned artist Peggy Schuning to create the mosaic structure and to engage the community by including them in the process. Peggy worked with folks at the Eaton Earlybird Farmers Market, YPA students and student volunteers to create the tiles and the structure.
The Wave Wall is also interactive! The turtle sculpture provides questions that prompt discovery and curiosity.
The WAVE WALL is located on Maple St. In Eaton OH.
Art at the Preble County Fair
Every year the PCAA coordinates the art exhibit at the Preble County Fair. The Fair Art Show celebrates local love form making art by exhibiting all visual art mediums including painting, photography, pastels and more!
HOW TO ENTER
Eagle's Point
Made possible by the HIT Foundation and the Ohio Capital Impact Corporations, the redeveloped Historic Eaton High School, known as Eagle's Point, hosts a variety of artwork that is integrated into the facility. The Mural at Eagle's Point lines the hall connecting the Bistro and the The Star Theatre. The Residence hosts over 15 artworks in the halls and community rooms and the Bistro is home to the Pocket Garden.
HENNY PENNY EXHIBIT
Each year we collaborate with Henny Penny to exhibit regional artwork in their world headquarters right here in Eaton, Ohio. To find out more about how to show your work- check out our artist opportunities.
OUTREACH
We offer art activities in and around the county to make sure EVERYONE has access to the arts. From monthly art classes with Your Happy Place and the Preble County Senior Center, to activities for the Lewisburg Bicentennial Celebration- we really do have ART for EVERYONE!
