    Welcome to Preble Arts at Home! We are committed to making sure creativity remains a part of our community and we are working on a series of videos, links and resources to keep you inspired, entertained and education. We will be posting on our Facebook and Instagram pages daily; we hope you watch and participate in our activities.     Preble Arts is looking for emerging and professional artists that want to exhibit and gain exposure of their artwork. There are open entry juried exhibits and solo or group proposal opportunities available. Preble Arts’ main gallery is just over 1,000 square foot and is nestled in the heart of downtown Eaton.  

     This May, Preble Arts is hosting a juried exhibit titled Emerging Artists open to artists between the age of sixteen and twenty-nine. Preble Arts wants to showcase the budding talents of local and regional artists. This is an open call with a limit of two entries per person. Entries will be judged for awards. There are even more opportunities to have your artwork on display at Preble Arts in the Gallery and Spotlight Gallery.  Exhibitions are often paired with Arts Night Out events that has high attendance and is a growing community event. Preble Arts’ new location is in downtown Eaton where the large store front windows display the Gallery, inviting those in to come in and explore. All exhibit information can be found at www.preblearts.org and following the link to Artist Opportunities under the Makers tab.

    Are your kids out of school and you don’t know what to do? Bring them to Preble Arts for Spring Break Camp March 30th - April 3rd from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Preble Arts Spring Break Camp is full of creativity for your child all week long. Each day is filled with new themes and artistic techniques and projects to spark your child’s creativity. Camp themes include Superheroes, Color Explosions, Clay and Creatures, Art-y Animals and Crazy Concoctions. Camps are affordable at just $4.30 - 5.50 per hour – wowza! Affordable for you and fun for them – it's a win-win! Each day of camp is $30 for members and $38 for non-members. Choose one or choose all five! Children should be sent to camp with a packed lunch for them to be fueled to create the day away! 

    • March 30: Superheroes - Be a Superhero for the day! What hero have you always dreamed of being? What is your superpower? Create your own hero identity through drawing your own superhero costumes, props and more! Many mediums will be explored to make all things super! 

    • March 31: Color Explosions - You will be surrounded with color! Explore tie die, pop art and everything else color. There is nothing dull at Color Explosions! 

    • April 1: Clay and Creatures - Explore the wonders and creative flare of creatures big and small. Creatures will be explored with clay, paint and other mediums. 

    • April 2: Art-y Animals - Don't miss Art-y Animals at Preble Arts Spring Break Camp as Safari Junction will be joining in on the fun and bringing their fury friends! 

    • April 3: Crazy Concoctions - Put on your thinking cap and get crazy with Crazy Concoctions. From slime to upcycled and recycled projects, all concoctions are crazy! 

    Pre-registration is required, and spaces fill up fast! Camps are priced to make caring for your child during break fun and affordable. All materials are included. For the entire week Spring Break Camp is only $150 for members and $190 for non-members. Snacks and water are provided but please send snacks if your child has an allergy. Please fill out the registration form before camp, registration forms can be found online or stop in at Preble Arts to fill out if you do not have access to a printer.     Bad Art, Good Folk Year 6 Cast Announced!

    For the sixth consecutive year, The Preble County Art Association is presenting Bad Art, Good Folk, an annual fundraiser to support art in Preble County. The fundraiser features local celebrities competing to win the most votes from now until April. Each “Good Folk” is creating a piece of art to be auctioned at the culminating event on April 18th sponsored by Edison State Community College, Muha Construction, LCNB National Bank, Kramer & Kramer Inc., Lawn Plus, RDA Group Architects, Twin Valley Bank and Bullen Ultrasonics. The 2020 cast is split into three teams and are led by PCAA instructors to create their masterpiece. Erin Abney will be coaching Joe Ferriell from the City of Eaton, Todd Appledorn from Heeter Insurance, and Christine Wilson from Butler County ESC. Michelle Buckley will be coaching Jane Smith from Essence of Wellness, Chris Fourman from LCNB National Bank, and Craig Springmier from Halderman Farm Management. Bad Art Good Folk Veteran Robert Coveney will be coaching Lauren Morris from Twin Valley Bank, Todd Hennigan from Henny Penny and Rick Hanes from Edison Community College.

    The 2020 cast is looking for support from the entire community to raise contributions for the PCAA. Votes cost $1 each and an unlimited amount can be cast. Voting for Good Folk can be done online at www.preblearts.org or in person at Preble Arts, 207 E. Main St. in Eaton, Ohio. All votes are tax deductible donations and support the PCAA. The funds raised by this event make art opportunities available and accessible to the community.

    There are several ways to celebrate your creativity this Valentine’s at Preble Arts. We are offering several workshops which include Valentine Fabric Postcards, Heart Tumbler, Mixed Media Heart and Valentine’s Topiary along with Valentine’s Magnet Paintings on our Art Menu and Valentine’s Date Night in ceramics or painting. Join us February 1st for our Love is in the Air free studio fee in our Paint Your Own Pottery Studio. There are so many options to choose from you will be sure to fall in love!

    Send the gift of love with your own Valentine Fabric Postcard. You will learn your way around a sewing machine to create and embellish your fabric postcard. Join us February 4th from 6 - 8 p.m. to send your love to those far and near. The cost of the workshop is $20 for members and $30 for non-members.  

    Create your very own beautiful Valentine’s Topiary with Cheri Simon on Saturday, February 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Use fabric, greenery and other materials to create your unique topiary. The decorative base is handmade by local business, Brubaker Metal Craft. The cost of the Valentine’s Topiary workshop is $45, all materials will be provided.

    Hearts abound the month of February at Preble Arts! Paint your own Heart Tumbler Tuesday, February 11th from 6 - 8 p.m. In this step by step workshop you will learn several paint your own pottery techniques to create a beautiful tumbler and bonus, you can use these new-found techniques on future visits to our studio. The workshop is $17 for members and $20 for non-members.

    Valentine’s Day is among us. Wine, cheese and a new experience all wrapped in one evening can be a lot of pressure to plan. Preble Arts has you covered with a romantic evening with all the elements of a perfect and memorable evening with your loved one. Preble Arts is hosting Valentine’s Date Night Friday, February 14th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Choose from two art experiences, ceramics or painting, to make an evening you both will enjoy.  

    During Ceramic Valentine’s Night Out couples will fall in love with the art of clay! Get close and learn the basics of the wheel together. Couples will throw and glaze their own bowl. Make a hand-built Valentine with your loved one during the workshop as well. Ceramic Valentine’s Night Out is $40 a person or $70 a couple, includes a glass of wine & charcuterie.

    Valentine’s Night Out is not just for couples – come paint with your friends or bring a date to paint with you. Erin Abney will lead participants step by step in creating their very own love-struck multi-canvas painting. Preble Arts love-struck tree painting makes a beautiful piece to hang in your home whether you make a half by yourself or a whole painting with your friend or partner.     Our Mixed Media Heart collage is for all ages! Dive into paint, fabric, ribbon and decorative paper to create your own expression of love collage.     Preble Arts is in full swing come 2020! We have classes for adults and youth along with workshops for all ages! Preble Arts is offering classes and workshops in several mediums; drawing, ceramics, painting, knitting and sewing. Cross off the skill you have been itching to learn early in 2020 at Preble Arts!

    Youth drawing and youth ceramics are once a week classes, six weeks in length, which will teach your youth the basics of the class and help them to build on their foundation. Youth Ceramics will teach your youth how to create something on the wheel and allow them to get their hands on some clay! Students will have fun learning how to make their own masterpiece and get a little messy. The creations your youth make will be functional and you will enjoy for years to come! In Youth Drawing the instructor will break down the mystery of drawing for the students and help them to hone their skill set. Classes begin the week of January 6th so be sure to pre-register to guarantee your spot!

    Preble Arts adult classes include Art Explorations, Ceramics and Acrylic Painting which kick off the week of January 6th. Art Explorations is focused on helping students tune their painting and drawing skills. Students bring a project they want to complete in the six-week course. Art Explorations is uniquely designed to give personalized instruction within a group setting. Students are responsible for choosing their project and any needed supplies. In Adult Ceramics learn the basics of wheel throwing and hand building techniques while enjoying community with other potters. What you can create is limitless! In the Preble Arts Adult Acrylic Painting you will be guided through the fundamentals of painting. The project-based course will introduce key design principles and participants will complete 2-3 paintings of their own.

    Preble Arts has workshops for Harry Potter fans – paint your very own House Cup stein or paint Harry Potter himself on canvas! Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Harry Potter character. The House Cup Workshop participants will enjoy butterbeer while they paint their stein. Introductions to knitting and sewing are workshops with beginners in mind. Love is in the air at Preble Arts, join us Valentine’s night for a romantic ceramics or painting date night – wine and charcuterie are included. Make your reservations today! Valentine’s Topiary and Feed Bag Tote Workshops are new to Preble Arts this year. Bringing Drawing to Life with Color will cover basic skills in using color to further develop a comic line drawing. Lastly, we have a Mixed Media Heart Collage for all ages to participate.

    Stop in anytime Tuesday – Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to paint your own pottery! You can paint anything from plates, mugs and bowls to animal figurines to home décor. Paint your own pottery makes for a fun time with your friends and family. We also offer youth and adult paint your own pottery parties!

    Christmas at Preble Arts

    A variety of holiday events for all ages are taking place at Preble Arts located at our new site, 207 E. Main St. in downtown Eaton, now through the end of the year. Preble Arts is bringing on the holiday cheer! Join us for Arts Night Out on November 22, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Holiday Workshops include Crafty Kids, Have a Painted Pottery Christmas, Festive Tree Plate, Santa’s Workshop, Painting with Santa, and Jingle, Mingle, Make!     You won’t want to miss Arts Night Out on November 22, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.! Preble Arts welcomes the community to participate in an evening full of fun for you and your family to see, hear and do! Not only will there be free activities and artist demonstrations but also regional craft beer, scrumptious food from What the Taco and delicious desserts from Main Street Treats. The historic Star Theatre will be presenting a preview of Holiday Happenings a production. Arts Night Out will be exhibiting the Winter Artist Market full of one of a kind pieces made by artists from all over the region that are available for purchase for those on your holiday shopping list or something for yourself! Our Art Menu has a few additions, Clay Ornaments and Mini Holiday Paintings along with two of our favorites, Flow Painting and Metal Jewelry Stamping. Our Paint Your Own Pottery will be open for you and your family to enjoy. Preble Arts expresses its gratitude and thanks to LCNB National Bank for sponsoring Arts Night Out!

    Buying something for yourself or those on your holiday shopping list has never been easier! Shop local at our Winter Artist Market November 22nd – December 21st where artists from all over the region will have one of a kind pieces of artwork for you or your loved ones to enjoy. Artwork ranges from paintings, hand blown glass, ceramics, quilts, hand spun yarn, handbags, dolls, scarves, photography, scented soaps, ornaments, jewelry, cards, kitchenware and mosaic work. You will surely find a piece that calls out to be yours. Participating artists include Erin Abney, Daniel Bell, Robert Coveney, Kelsey Daugherty, Eric Deeter, Amy Dillon, Brooke Hartwig, Jessi June, Jane Marshall, Netta’s Naturals, Yetunde Rodrigues, Peggy Schuning, Neil Simek, Cindy Tipton, Dennis Walker and Laura Wogoman.

    With the holidays right around the corner Preble Arts is offering Holiday Workshops for all ages:

    Crafty Kidsis a free festive craft event for your child to participate in while school is out. Drop in November 26th and 27th to make a free festive craft anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to partake in the fun!

    Have a Painted Pottery Christmas! Friday, December 6th from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. If you are not already in the Christmas spirit, we will get you there with some Christmas jingles you are welcome to sing along to while sipping hot chocolate as you paint in our PYOP studio. We will help you tap into your creative side with several technique options available. Make a holiday decoration, ornament or a gift. There will be no sitting fees all day long, you only pay the price of the bisque.

    Santa’s Workshop Saturday, December 7th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. there will be a four-hour workshop for the kids. You can drop off your little one, perfect time for you to get some holiday shopping done, or participate in the fun yourself. Santa’s Preble Arts Elves will be helping the kids to create a Buddy the Elf cookie plate, a plush penguin and other festive art projects. Santa’s Workshop costs $20 for members and $30 for non-members.

    Festive Tree Plate Workshop will be on Friday, December 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. With Christmas around the corner you will need a festive plate to go along with your family’s holiday feast. Don’t worry – we got you covered! An instructor will walk you through how to create this festive tree plate to proudly display for all to enjoy. Workshop cost is $22 a person.

    Painting with Santa - Santa is in the house – well the Preble Arts Center that is! Even though Santa is busy getting all the children’s Christmas lists in order and checking it twice, Santa himself will be our painting instructor for the day! Painting with Santa will be Saturday, December 14th 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Get your picture with Santa! Parents are welcome to register and paint with their children. Cost for the workshop is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.  

    Jingle, Mingle, Make! is an event you will want to mark your calendars for, especially if you are a last minute holiday shopper. Jingle, Mingle, Make! will be on Saturday, December 21st 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. With only four days before Christmas – it’s not too late to make your own gifts for those on your list. You will dye a silk scarf, make sugar scrub and create your own gift tags all while sipping mimosas and nibbling on quiche. Jingle, Mingle, Make! also serves as a fun girls day before Christmas is in full swing! Included in the event is a complimentary $5 gift card to use in our Winter Artist Market which has one artwork of all different mediums created by artists all over the region. Participants must be 21 or older. Cost of the workshop is $35 a person.

    The PCAA is excited to host our 2019 Annual Meeting, open to members of the PCAA. The meeting is from 6pm-6:30pm on September 10th. A brief presentation about PCAA activities will be accompanied by refreshments. Please join us and find out what we have been up to!

    Juried Show Call for Entries!

    The Preble County Art Associate will be accepting entries for the 2019 Annual Juried Show on Friday, September 20, 1pm-6pm and Saturday, September 21, 10am-2pm. The Juried Show is an opportunity for area artists to exhibit their artwork and compete for prizes. This year, the exhibit will take place at the new Preble Arts location at 207 E. Main St. in downtown Eaton, Ohio. Preble Arts has an 800 sq. ft. gallery in their newly renovated space. High ceilings, natural and track lighting, make for an ideal exhibit space.

    Entries will be accepted in multiple mediums including but not limited to: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Pastel, Mixed-Media, Sculpture, Wood, Textiles and Pottery. 2-D works must be framed with a hanging wire. Pedestals for 3-D works are limited; however, we will do our best to accommodate them. Works must be presentable, completely finished and ready to exhibit. Work must fit through a standard size door. The PCAA staff has the right to reject any work not properly prepared for display.

    The 2019 Show will be juried by Ron Stevens, Director of the Art Center at Miami University. Ron is an accomplished photographer, educator, and director of Miami’s Craft Summer workshop series.

    This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older. Work must be available for the entire exhibit.  Works previously exhibited at the Visual Art Center are NOT eligible. This is a JURIED exhibit and all works will be juried in. Not all submissions will be accepted due to the competitive nature of the exhibit and the limitation of space.
